Good afternoon folks,

I certainly hope folks got to get some skiing in this weekend. For as difficult as the weather has been, there are places to find really good skiing. I was able to get a good ski at Green Woodlands in Dorchester on Saturday and Couper and I got some fun skiing in at Great Glen today. They even had tracks set.

I also wanted to say great job on the Time Trial on Thursday. Missing our first race, it was important to have folks give a strong effort in a race-like environment.

This week:

Monday-Practice @ Proctor 3:45-5:30 Distance ski (new skier will work on technique)

Tuesday- Practice @ Proctor 3:15-5:15 Speeds made fun

Wednesday- Practice @ Proctor 3:15-5:15 Easy recovery ski, make sure skis are in trailer for Thursday's race

Thursday- Race @ Dublin: races start at 2:30, MS dismissal 12:00, departure 12:15, HS dismissal 12:15, departure 12:30.

Friday- off day (travel for Eastern Cup skiers)

Just a reminder, anyone who is planning on riding home with a parent from the race needs to have the parent contact a coach 24 hours prior. So let us know by Wednesday.

Dublin is making snow and should have more than the 1K loop open

Another item to consider- diet and hydration are really important for endurance athletes, and believe it or not, you are endurance athletes. Whether you are 11 years old in 6th grade or 18 in your senior year, you need to fuel and hydrate for the added efforts that you are doing while skiing. Please plan to eat a good breakfast, a healthy lunch and a snack before practice. Foods to be avoided: Sports drinks, energy drinks, soda, white breads, non-nutritive sweeteners, baked goods/desserts.

That's all, see you tomorrow.
