Happy New Year!

I hope everyone has had an enjoyable break. We had very good turnout for our practices over break and we're ready to start the season with racing... or not.

The record-breaking warmth has put a bit of a delay in our racing schedule as Wednesday's race at Dublin is postponed to Jan. 11. The January 11 race at Beaver Meadow has also been postponed. The calendar has been updated. Here's a link to the calendar: KearsargeNordicCalendar

I'd like to ask folks to make sure that they sign up for the REMIND app for any changes that may be happening to our schedule and I'll also be posting arrival times when we are coming back from races. Here's the link to join: KearsargeNordic

Here's our plan for this week.

Monday: 3:15-5:00 Practice @ Proctor Skate, warm up, wave starts, strategy for short course racing, climbing in soft snow, finishing strong. MS some need to get uniforms, some have jackets. I still need Proctor Liability forms from 8 skiers.

Tuesday: 3:15-5:15 Practice @ Proctor Skate, warm up, pre-race routine: 15 minute easy ski (may include listening to a warm-up playlist) 15 min. easy L1 skiing, 10 min. moderate L2 skiing, 5 min. fast L3 skiing, 5 min. very fast pick-ups 20 seconds, should be done 5 minutes before your start time. We will do a race simulation. Followed by post-race routine: Eat a snack, put on warmer clothes, 15-20 min. easy ski L1, reflect on race.

Wednesday: TBD (we have a faculty meeting and don't have time at Proctor and the weather looks iffy).

Thursday: 3:30-5:30 Practice @ Proctor Skate, easy over distance ski. Shooting for HS 15-20+ km (12-16+ sprint laps) MS 8-15 km.

Friday: 2:45-4:30 pole hike up Lincoln Trail at KRHS.  Wear appropriate clothes, 5:00-6:00 Zoom session with Nutritionist (link forthcoming). And Wax Night if Wax hosts are hosting.

When the weather is not cooperating with our sport, we need to adapt and realize that this may be the way winters are going to be now. We are very lucky that we have access to Proctor Ski Area with the snowmaking. We also need to take advantage of the times that we are able to get on snow as it may not be consistent or regular.

Try to get a few seconds to watch the Tour de Ski
