Hi everyone,

I want to express my gratitude and thanks for all the support that we got from families and parents at yesterday's Coaches' Series Race. In talking with other coaches, the prevailing impression was that it went very well considering the cold temperatures and COVID restrictions. We'll monitor the teams to see if there are any impacts of the event over the next few weeks.

Our skiers did an amazing job dealing with the conditions. Even with frigid temperatures, there were smiles and fun had all around the course. Thank you!

We are now halfway through the race season and our focus in the coming couple of weeks will be on classic skiing with the Gunstock Paintball Biathlon on Wednesday and the Whitaker Woods Classic on February 2. We will need some help with applying wax on skis at these races and will welcome parent volunteers to assist with this vital job.

This Week:

Monday: Practice @ Proctor 3-5 Classic striding technique and dealing with wax issues while skiing

Tuesday: Practice @ Proctor 3-5 Classic double poling and sprinting

Wednesday: Race @ Gunstock MS Dismissal 11:30, departure 11:45, HS dismissal 11:45, departure 12:00

Thursday: Practice @ Proctor 3-5 Classic recover ski note: skiers will need to take their skis with them as the trailer will not be at practice on Friday as it's heading to Lake Placid with the Eastern Cup skiers

Friday: Practice @ Proctor 3-5 Classic speed work with coach Maddie Cook

We have some skiers who are heading off to Lake Placid, NY for this coming weekend's Eastern Cup race that is also a USSS SuperTour event with some of the nation's best skiers in attendance. They'll be skiing at the site of the 1932 and 1980 winter olympics on the eve of this year's Olympics.

If you haven't waxed your classic skis (just the tips and tails), you should put blue wax on them. If you need wax, I'll have some at practice tomorrow.
