Hi folks,

Well, at least the temperatures are heading in the right direction. We also had a really good week of skiing in some less than ideal conditions this past week, but it was capped off with a great day up at Craftsbury Outdoor Center in Craftsbury, VT where we ran into friends from Concord, Plymouth, and Moultonborough.

One of the things we don't always get to think about is how hard this sport is to take up and we've got some new skiers this year who are really doing awesome. Delaney, Tekken, Arianna, and Javiera have worked really hard over the past few weeks and it shows. Delaney has shown remarkable progress this past week and she should be super proud of the work she's done. All the skiers at practice have been taking it seriously (even the reindeer games). Thank you and keep it up!

This week begins our racing schedule, so there's about one race each week for the rest of the season. This week's race, however, is a bit up in the air as Dublin School Nordic Center may not have enough snow for the race at the end of the week, but we're working on a backup site and will let everyone know.

Also, we have to set up carpooling for the races as we can't expect busing to races this year.

This week's plan:

Monday: On your own- get some activity done outside. With the colder temperatures, we need to acclimate.

Tuesday: practice @ Proctor 3:15-5:00, skate technique (uphills & downhills)

Wednesday: practice @ Proctor 4:30-6:15, skate time trial, pre & post race preparation

Thursday: practice @ Proctor 3:15-5:00, easy skate distance, race strategies

Friday: race @ Dublin School Nordic Center (2:30 HS girls, 3:15 HS boys, 4:00 MS) May be moved to alternate site

Sunday: ski excursion to somewhere with snow. TBD

Thank you, and Happy New Year!
