Good afternoon. The light snow that's been falling all day is making me happy because we'll have some good snow to ski on for our race at home on Tuesday. The little one that we had last week was a good warm up because there's going to be many more folks at this race. That just means we'll have more fun. About 225 skiers over four races. It'll be busy and fun.
I wanted to say how proud both Coach Pruett and I are with the efforts and enthusiasm that we've seen, especially this past week as it was pretty cold and you all did a great job dressing appropriately and giving it your best in what could be the coldest week of the season. And, as Coach Pruett noted, it was still light at 4:30 pm!
This week:
Sunday: waxing at wax hosts. I'm pretty sure it's the same time as last week, but check with them. Wax recommendation is below.
Monday: Practice @ Proctor 4-5:30 pm Freestyle, easy ski with some speeds.
Tuesday: Race @ Proctor Times-HSG 3:30 pm, HSB 4:00 pm, MS 4:30 pm (more info below)
Wednesday: Practice @ Proctor 4-5:30 pm Freestyle, recovery with some technique and review of race
Thursday: Practice @ Proctor 4-5:30 pm Freestyle (except for those going to Lake Placid-Classic for you) distance with speeds
Friday: OFF have a great weekend and cheer on your teammates who are headed up to ski at Lake Placid, next week we have two races (1/22 and 1/25).
Wax recommendations
Start with a good cleaning, wipe and brush. Then endurance or graphite, scrape and brush. Follow that with violet (PS7, or HS7), scrape and brush
Lake Placid skiers, you can put the Endurance or graphite on Sunday on your classic skis.
Volunteers for the Race
We need:
4 people at the start area, starter, ghosts, start list
4 people to help with timing
3 people to corral the skiers who are finishing so that they don't get in the way of skiers still on course.
And plenty of folks to cheer on our great kids.
Reminder, you don't leave the race until all the races are done. So you should do some cheering and skiing after your race is over.
See you soon.
